Farm Information Women Power Zongolica (or WPZ) is a cooperative of 20-women strong whom grew and produced this particular lot in the Zongolica region of Veracruz, Mexico. This region's language, botanical techniques and the wisdom in which they interact with the environment is deeply influenced by the rich ancestral heritage of a majority of its people, the Nahuas indigenous group.
Coffee farms in Zongolica practice sustainable coffee production by taking into account the effects of coffee farming on the environment. They strive to protect the biodiversity in the region, with one of the ways ensuring a balanced soil that is rich in nutrients. Intercropping and forest conservation are also among the practiced tactics.
The WPZ coffee lot was pulped with hand-cranked de-pulpers, washed and dried on patios for 15 days. 20 producers contributed to this lot, and each adhered to the same practices on her own farm.
